What’s in Your Air?

Find Out With MoldDNA™ Air Testing

Not All Mold Tests (And Not All Mold Inspectors) Are Created Equal

ERMI Mold Testing vs. MoldDNA™ Air testing

The good news is that mold testing is constantly evolving, with new tools and techniques that offer greater accuracy and convenience — such as MoldDNA™ air testing. But before we look at what MoldDNA™ air testing provides to homeowners and anyone who wants to ensure they’re breathing high-quality air (and how they can get their spaces tested ASAP), let’s do a quick rundown on the original ERMI mold testing, the MoldDNA™ testing, and how both of these amazing mold testing methodologies work.

"When it comes to mold, what you don't see can significantly impact your health. That's why MoldDNA™ air testing should be included in a regular maintenance program for homes, offices, and other indoor spaces where people gather."

What Is ERMI?

ERMI stands for Environmental Relative Moldiness Index. It was developed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientists to gauge levels of mold contamination by comparing dust samples taken from a space against the ERMI scale. ERMI stands for Environmental Relative Moldiness Index. It was developed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientists to gauge levels of mold contamination by comparing dust samples taken from a space against the ERMI scale. The results indicate the amount and species of molds that are present in a home or other indoor area.  in a home or other indoor area.

What's The Difference Between ERMI And MoldDNA™ Air Testing?

MoldDNA™ air testing represents a step forward for mold inspection and testing by generating results from air samples rather than dust. This matters because air samples offer an immediate, up-to-the-minute snapshot of what’s in your indoor air — and what’s going into your lungs with every breath you take.
99.9% Accuracy!

How Accurate Is MoldDNA™ Air Testing?

MoldDNA™ air testing uses the same DNA analysis as regular, dust-based ERMI testing to detect and count mold spores and provide analysis of up to 36 indicator molds with 99.9% accuracy! However, MoldDNA™ air testing doesn’t compare the air samples to ERMI’s scale to assess a home’s Environmental Relative Moldiness Index. So, it’s crucial to complete a comprehensive mold inspection with the MoldDNA™ air testing, following the EPA’s current guidance on mold assessment.
